Southern
States Correctional Association members
have the opportunity to be recognized in any of the following
ways:
Kenneth
Law College Scholarship
SSCA will award a minimum of $5,000 in college scholarships to be applied toward tuition and related academic expenses. The scholarships are given to financially assit members, their spouse or dependent children in preparing academically to work in the criminal justice field. Eligibility information and applications are published in the Association's quarterly journal.
David
H. Williams Excellence of Service Award
This award is the highest commendation given by this association.
It was established in 1985 in honor of the first President of
SSCA. It is presented annually to a deserving member of SSCA
who has distinguished him/herself in the field of criminal justice
and/or contributed to the professional growth and improvement
of SSCA and its membership.
Line
Staff of the Year Award
Three individuals are recognized annually who exemplify career
professionalism. One award each is presented to a Probation/Parole
Officer, a Correctional officer, and a corrections Support Service
Person. SSCA, through this award, recognizes the important role
staff plays in the success of the correctional process and the
service these individuals provide to the agencies and communities
they serve. Eligibility information and applications are published
in the Association's quarterly journal.

Shields Member Recognition Award
This award is given by the association to recognize a member
who has made significant contributions to the SSCA. The selected
member will be given a trip to the SSCA Annual Training Conference
at the expense of the Association.
